Cutting my teeth on infographics and event posters led me to the UX design skills I am honing today.
Each year, the School of Visual Art & Design at UofSC hosts artists and scholars from across the country to share their skills and experiences with students. I worked with program directors and faculty to design this year’s poster.
Throughout the design process, I had two main goals: a smooth, easy-to-read layout, and a bold aesthetic that highlights the artists. It was also important to incorporate elements from across the diverse fields of art which SVAD students explore.
This design pays homage to the original Polaroid rainbow with a paintbrush twist and 70’s movie poster layout. The rainbow pattern allows for convenient section blocking, each color stripe containing a different artist’s bust and information.
Following the path of the main poster, I created a separate design to spotlight each guest’s visit. In modifying the style and structure of the original, I reinforced the colorful rainbow graphics, vintage typography and bust photo, while maximizing each visitor’s details.
Creating a consistent, modular design was also important. I was able to easily plug each artist’s unique photos and text into the same format, streamlining the ideation process and strengthening the series’ aesthetic.
Hi! I make things I’m curious about. Hopefully it’s contagious.
